  1. 1. What I learned about the massacre is that in Thailand they didn't want the students to have an education. They thought if they got an well understanding of what communist are doing they would've won their protest. That's why the military killed those people.

    2. The major lesson for Dao is that no man will ever satisfied her needs. She needs to learn to be able to stand on her own two feet. Dao needs to know that family is more important than her relationship problems. Alo she needs to learn having a baby won't save a relationship

  2. The massacre that happened at Thammasat University was due to people being power hungry. People want so badly to be on top of things that they don’t care about anyone else. They killed people just because they were getting educated and understanding that they were being treated unfairly. All these dead innocent people lying in the streets, just because people want power.
I think the main lesson to be learned is from Jinda. Throughout everything she went through, she still stood tall. She always stayed strong for other people. She even let Ned go just to stay and do what she was always taught to do. She teaches people that it’s okay to be strong, and stay true to yourself.

Ned- He got tired of the people not listening so he went to violence instead of not hurting anyone.

  4. I learned that there were 46 deaths and 167 people were injuried.

From Grandma I learned that you should explore the world and notice some of the things the world or country or maybe even town is going through.

  5. I learned that the people in Thailand didn't want the students to speak up about the fairness of how they were treating farmers. I learned that a lot of people were killed just for talking about what was fair. I learned that this world hasn't changed even after the massacre.
I think that even though Ned gave in to violence it is better to do what you think is right and don't respond with violence just because someone else does.-MakalahM.

  6. I learned that people in Thailand , doesn't have people to speak up for them self. The land lords used a lot of people in the village.Jinda was a hard working women that didn't know about speaking for the village. Ned came to the village told Jinda to speak up her self. There wasn't a lot of food for a lot of people. Many young kids work and did not go to school.New born kids died cause of hunger. They didn't have rights in Thailand and in the village and if you protest, many people just find any excuse so they can have violence when they protest.

  7. -I learned that the massecre was an attack on students and protestants. Students from various universities were demonstrating against the return to Thailand of Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, a former military ruler. I also learned that forty-six people were killed.
-From Jinda I learned that you need to fight for what you want. From Jinda I also learned that being strong is the only option we have sometimes becasue Jinda knew that after Inthorn's death she was the head of the family so she had to take care of them and she had to learnd to grow rice.

  8. I learned that the Thammasat University massacre would've been prevented if people weren't so power hungry. People thirst for the ability to rule over one another, the only reason people protested against the students was because they were different. Society cant accept the fact that there is difference among people, if one person is different, then the whole community system is out of order. No one can accept you if you haven't stood up for your beliefs.

Power and hatred can change you, Ned proves this to be true by in the beginning falling for Jinda, making Jinda believe he loves her. Ned was all about peace and equality in the beginning, but as the story truly unfolds, then Ned is revealed to break under the pressure.

I learned about the people in Thailand, is that there was many of innocent lives gone. That they were so selfish they couldent let the people who deserved to go to that school the ones who had been working there whole lives but poor because of the landlords and as uhsuall the villagers were still working there butt off.

Jinda because she teached responsibilty and importance to the reader. She showed how she was always there when her dad or really anyone needed her she was the oppisite of Dao.

  10. What I learned about the massacre is that they didn't want the students to get their education, they didn't want the students to learn how unfairly they were getting treated. I believe that that's why they went to the university and attacked it and killed people.
Jinda was the one I learned from. She showed how strong someone can be after everything they've been through.

I learned that people in Thailand were very poor and land lords used a lot of people in the village to get rent money .Jinda was a working girl that stayed at the farm when her dad passed away.Ned went back with the communist. There wasn't a lot of food for a lot of people so they died cause of hunger. They didn't have rights in Thailand because i think they were scared to speak out ,and let people her there voice and what they standed for.-C Murchison

Dao needs to know that family is more important than her relationship problems. Also she needs to learn having a baby won't save a relationship and actually it is possible for it to hut the relationship due to the financial and responsibilities needed to take care of children. >>>>>CHRISCOLLINS<<<<< <3333

  13. 1. I learned that the people in Thailand , we're strong survivors and they faught hard for their country even tho most of them didn't make it as far as others. They still faught back until they couldn't anymore! And that gave me a whole another mind set on doing what i have to do to survivie .

    2. I learned from Jinda , that when push comes to shove you have to do what's best or what you think is best! and by her father passing away she didn't have to stay . But she did , to help out the village and to me she choosed the right choice .

  14. I learned that the massacre was caused by the student that make the land lord mad. I also learned that was people think that they can do what ever they want an example is the land lords from the book. Finally is that the laws are never fair to some people.
From Jinda I learned that she will never give up. Also that she realize that she needed to be stronger after her father died. Finally that she would not leave her family to follow her dreams.

  15. 1. What I learned is that the Massacre was very violent. THe military didnt want the people of Thailand to have a education. They decided that they would blow things up and kill the students and teachers. There was a total of 213 people either hurt or killed.

    2. I learned the most from Jinda. She was helpful and supportive to her family. She was strong even when Ned left. She taught me that even when things get hard, you can't give up .

  16. The Thammasat University Massacre was an attack on students and protesters that happened on the campus of Thammasat University and at Sanam Luang in Bangkok. Students from different universities from all over were going against Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, a former military ruler to return to Thailand. By the official count, forty-six people died in the attack by being shot, beaten and their bodies mutilated.

I think one of the most important lessons came from Dao. She had two babies with someone that doesn't care about her. I think you should wait until you know that someone loves you before you try to have a baby. They’re a big responsibility and you don’t want to have to try and take care of a kid all by yourself because someone you thought loved you left.

  17. What i learned about the massacre was that in Thailand people where getting treated unfairly and the gangs formed a martial law to kill the people so that they wouldn't know about how unfairly they was getting treated.

The lesson i learned was from Dao i learned that she never learns her lesson she made the same mistake she had before and now she is pregnant again.

  18. -I learned that the protestants were against a military leader named Thanom Kittikachorn and that they didn't want him back so they started protesting against the government and the military. So the military and police started to open fire and they starting shooting at least 2,000 students and killed 46 and wounded many others.
-Jinda showed us a good lesson about never giving up and always having hope in the most darkest and scariest moments like for example when her father died she stood up and kept going on as the leader of the village and growing rice and moving on with her life even though Ned had left and changed.

  19. -I learned that Thai means free, but the people there really weren't. The massacre was an attack on students and protesters at Thammasat University in Bangkok.
-Ned, seemed like he was going to be the hero but he really wasn't. Even if he was in love with Jinda they could of live happily together but they didn't. He changed at the end of the story but he was for the war in the end.

  20. I learned that a lot of people was killed for no reason. I wish that Ned should have not changed at the end. Jinda is the one who thought me how to always stay the same. Even if you are hurt and lost some family members.
