  1. Have people changed? no, people don't change unless someone else change. and they don't change unless something changes. and things rarely change.
How can writing help forge social change? it can help by letting people speak their mind. if people speak their mind then they will most likely change others.
How much of a person's character is shaped by the times in which they live? many, many, manyyyyyyy, because if you live in slavery then you think its fine. and if you live in this time then you think its wrong.
How much forgiveness does someone deserve for ignorance? not much. how i think its 1st time, shame on you. 2nd time, shame on us. 3rd time, shame on me. and i don't want shame on me.
Who has the most influence over a child's life? parents or parental figure is the most influential in a childs life.

  2. From the Jim Crow Era, I have learned not every white person was racist towards African Americans. Skeeter is one of the people in The Help that shows care towards them. She does not like to follow the crowd but lives up to her beliefs. I would have thought most of the blacks detested their job and only did it for the money. Constantine and Aibileen where one of the many maids whom worked, because they enjoyed taking care of the kids. They did not only work for the pay but because they cared as well.
People change a lot through out time, but there will always be a part that will never change. Ignorant people deserve an unlimited amount of forgiveness. Everyone deserves forgiveness. It is important to forgive others, so that you can be forgiven.

  3. What I learned about the Jim Crow Era was that the white's were controlling about the black's and made them do there dirty work instead of them doing there own. Minny and Aibileen were the biggest influence on the kids of there owners who told them what to do and teach them what was right and what was wrong.

Have people changed? I don't think so because people don't realize what there doing unless there put into that position.
How can writing help forge social change? It can make it change by being an outcast and different unlike others because, your suppose to express yourself.
How much of a person's character is shaped by the times in which they live? A whole lot. People back then didn't know what was wrong with the picture they just thought it was normal and it was the right thing to do.
How much forgiveness does someone deserve for ignorance? I don't think they don't deserve much because, what if they just keep acting like that? They won't realize it till someone does the same for them.
Who has the most influence over a child's life? Parents of course! They should be a role model to there own child or someone who does good deeds.

  4. Do I think people have changed????.....yes, I do because time has changed people don't act like they use to they act either somewhat better or just worst.people don't change unless someone make or take the chance to change.
How can writing help forge social change?writing can help by letting speak whats on their mind and letting them have their own opinion.letting people speak whats on their mind will at least make a change in the world.
How much forgiveness does someone deserve for ignorance?Well the first time I will forgive you because you don't really know no better, but I won't keep forgiving you if you continue to do the same thing over and over again because if I do that will be a waste of my time.

  5. People have changed from back then to now. As Mrs. Perkins said in class, our society has become lazy. A couple of decades ago, in order to get something you had to work for it. Now we expect for thing to just be handed to us.

  6. During the Jim Crowe era, there was major segregation. The African Americans worked for the whites mostly. The whites really didn't treat the help very good. Aibileen has raised so many kids in her lifetime and she never really gets a thankyou. Minny, is a very good cook who is never recognized for anything she does and she is tired of being treated that why. Skeeter feels bad for everything these African American women go through because it's just not fair to treat a group of people that way.
Have people changed? No, people have not changed over the years. There are still so many people that view different races as lower or "not good enough". Those people are ignorant and they don't realize how good races work together for a common good.
How can writing help forge a social change? Writing can help forge a social change. Writing shows your opinion on things and helps other express theres. By writing your opinion on something, you can totally change someone's perspective on something.
How much of a person's character is shaped by the times in which they live? A person's character is shaped a lot on the times in which they lived. Time change and things aren't the same as they were. So, someone that lived in a different era will have different views or opinions on things than you.
How much forgiveness does someone deserve for ignorance? I think some forgiveness can be given to someone that is ignorant. If someone is ignorant more than once, then I can't forgive them anymore. They should know better after they messed up the first time. Its really limited on the forgiveness I'll give them.
Who has the most influence over a child's life? The person who is with the child the most, has the most influence on their life. A child doesn't know much, but when they're around someone, they watch everything they do. The person around the child the most, is the biggest influence.

  7. 1. No, people haven't really changed. There are still some people who don't treat others equally. Not everyone believes we all should be equal.
    2. Writing can express what you feel and build your confidence. Once you build your confidence you can inspire others to build confidence.
    3. Alot, every generation views ideas differently. Our generation thinks differently and are more lazy.
    4. It depends on how ignorant they are. Everyone has a chance for forgiveness, but if your to ignorant then you lose your chance.
    5. The person who influences a child is the person who raises the child. You may be the childs mother, but if you don't raise him/her then he/she want learn from you. Childern learn from the people they grow up with or look up to.

  8. I have learned that during the Jim Crow era, blacks and whites were segregated. Today, we think that it is crazy, and that we wouldn't allow that. But the thing is, people thought that it was normal. Most of the white people are more wealthy and racist, because of how they act toward their maids. The A.A people were hard-working and were very kind, which makes me confused as to why people disliked them.
Minny and Aibileen are two maids who both work hard to get money, and both are treated rather poorly. Minny is less tolerant though, and will let people know if there is something she doesn't like. Miss Skeeter is an exception, she is a very caring person. She doesn't treat people poorly because of race, unlike the other women in this book.

EQ: I believe that the person who has the most influence over a person's life is the one who raised them. It doesn't necessarily have to be their parents. It could be any one that they look up to.

  9. Have people changed? No, because they wouldn't change just to change. They would have to change for a reason. They would change if someone else had changed. Others just wouldn't change to change. So no.
How can writing help forge social change? A lot, because from when the time had changed. Say for instant that you wouldn't do the same thing as someone older than you.
How much of a person's character is shaped by the times in which they live? A lot because that is the way they were raised and you can't help the way they were raised because you didn't raise them.
How much forgiveness does someone deserve for ignorance?
Who has the most influence over a child's life? The person who took care of them while they were growing up. You may be the mom or dad but if you weren't there to support them then you can't be a good influence on them.

  10. What I have learned about the Jim Crow Era is, that people back then was segrated. African Americans and Whites had seperate things. There was a African American store and a Whites store. There was seprate things for each race. African Americans where maids and they could not even use the house bathroom, their boss would make them a bathroom outside or in the garage. Skeeter's point of view to these things was good. She thought what was going on was wrong, and that everyone should have freedom. Aibileen's point of view she was just calm about it. She didn't like the fact that her boss actually took Mae Mobley's college fund and their savings and spent it on a bathroom for her. From Minny's point of view she didn't like the fact that they had to work so hard for a job. In the story Aibileen acually lies about what her boss say's to get her friend a job. I believe that the Jim Crow Era's was hard times for African Americans, they had so many people against them. The food they had in their stores would go bad before the food in the whites store. The Jim Crow Era was, a time that made the African Americans stuggle. They had so many things they had to do. The community didn't really have any benefits for them because they didn't really get treated equally. People still treated them badly and didn't really have any respect for them.
In ways some people have changed but, at the same time they haven't. I feel this way because, some people still believe in segragation. Some people still are getting treated unfairly. It happens all around the world, everyday. That's why I believe that people haven't really changed.

  11. I learned that in the Jim Crow Era there was a lot of segregation between the whites and the blacks. Almost every white person thought that the blacks were dumb and were uneducated.

Who has the most influence over a child's life?
I think the person that has the most influence over a child's life is their mother or father. If the child has a older brother or sister they tend to look up to them more that the mother or father. Also the society can influence the child. Influences can be both good and bad. Hopefully the person or character the child looks up to is and positive influence.

  12. Have people changed? Yes, People have changed. Really it depends on the era you grew up in? For example, the 70's is like the "hippie" era? So, people were crazy. But now in our generation it's so much diffrent. So, yes to me people do change.
How can writing help forge social change? To me this can help because it expresses your feelings. Some people can only tell how they feel completely in words.
How much do people change based on their period?
Alot, like i said, its really the time period you grow up in. That really determines the way you'll act and your lifestyle and personality.
How much forgiveness should people receive for ignorance?
Very little if you ask me. If they choose to be ignorant then thats there choice. They know what the consequences would be but its there choice if they wanna go down that road.
    Who influences childs?
To me i would say your elders. I say that because your elders are the ones that tell you how to do things. So, by that it really forms your lifestyle and personality. To me thats who really influences you.

His era is very much diffrent then the era today.
Blacks were treated very unfairly. They got no respect from most the whites. I really did feel for the african americans back the. It was really sad. They were beatin and bruised all the time. It was truely just very sad.

  13. What have i learned about the Jim Crow era is that back then blacks worked for the whites. Also that the blacks and whites didn't share their things with each other. Aibileen is more like a wise person and likes to care for children. Minny is a person that speaks her mind and people confuse her for a rude person. Skeeter is woman that had a lot of money. Also she doesn't take care of her daughter.

I think that people have changed because back then the blacks and whites weren't together and now we are like together. Also I think that a child's parents are the most influence in a child's life because, a child does what they see their parents do. Lory Acosta

  14. I learned that the jim crow era is bad. and that people have changed, but not much. i think that some people think that but they don't really say it out loud. i think that many others think that the people should not say anything about it and if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all. i personally think that slavery is stupid and wrong. no matter what we are all equal in my eyes. but i guess that's just me.
Have people changed? no, people don't change unless someone else change. and they don't change unless something changes. and things rarely change.

  15. I have learned that in the Jim Crow era, African- Americans were treated differently. The Jim Crow era was a time of segregation. Not all whites treated African Americans differently, but with better respect. Aibileen and Minny are wise and caring maids. Skeeter is a person without a husband, but with a trust-fund.
Who has the most influence over a child's life? The person that raises the child is the most influence for him/her.

  16. The Jim Crow laws is mainly about the segregating black people in the US.

Have people changed? I don’t think feelings change, nor people. I think situations change. But then again At this age, everything is changing. Day by day we don’t notice, but just look back over the past year and you will realize everything has. People you thought were going to be there forever aren’t, and people you never imagined you’d be speaking to are now some of your closest friends. Life makes little sense, and the more we grow the less sense it will make. So make the most of it now, before it all changes once again, because in the near future, all of this is only going to be memories.

  17. I have learned that in the Jim Crow era it is what you call segreagation. It was suppose to be seperate, but equal. It wasn't though it was whites controlling the blacks. Life wasn't right back then, but I'm glad somebody changed it today. Aibileen and Minny are maids that work for a white owner. Skeeter is a college grad from Ole Mis, and mother is stressing her on getting a husband.

Who has the most influence over a child's life? I believe that a person that the child admires, whether good or bad, has the most influence over that childs life. The child is going to want to grow up to be like that person and copy traits on that person.

  18. EQ: How much forgiveness does someone desrve for ignorance? They deserve as much as you can hold because if someone was raised ignorant they can't help it. They have to learn on their selves that everyone isent the same and things arent always going to be the way you were taught.
From the Jim crow era I have learned that blacks were not treated the same as whites. I also learned that hispanics werent around alot at the time because they dident leave their country because of segregation so there wasent alot of migrating done at the time like there is now.
EQ: I presonally do not think people have changed because everyday people stil discriminate it may not be because of race this time but it can be about how different you are or because you're "weird" or Homosexual. So no people have not changed same thing different generation different way.

  19. The Jim Crow Era is the principle that people are separate but equal meaning that its okay for us to be separated but we just need to be treated the same. Back in the Jim Crow Era it was very common for a white person to have a black maid. Maids always took care of the kids, cleaned the house and made sure the food was cooked.
Who has the most influence over a child's life ?
I think that the person that has the most influence over a child's life is the one who raises them. As in The Help, even though Mrs. Leefolt is Mae's mom, Aibileen is the one she knows best. The person that teaches you whats right and wrong also has the most influence upon you.

  20. What I learned from the Jim Crow Ear is that they were seprated more and they was seprated by whites and blacks and the blacks use to work for the whites.
