Write a comment where you tell your opinion about the myths we have been exploring in class. Here are some questions to get you started. Also, check out this link about the two stories.
Do you believe the epic of Gilgamesh really took place? Do you believe in the events in Genesis?
What have you learned that is new since the beginning of the semester?
Where do we need to review?
This reflection will count as a completion grade; opinions are welcome as long as they are politely defended.
I believe in the events in Genesis. I have learned lots of new stuff this semester. I learned what the Epic of Gilgamesh was. Before this class, I had no idea what it was. I think I need to review the part where Gilgamesh fights Humbaba because I did not understand it.
ReplyDeleteI had some trouble believing that the epic of Gilgamesh actually took place, but once I read the story of the flood of Gilgamesh, I started to change my mind. The story of the flood in the epic of Gilgamesh is very similar to the story of "Noah and the Ark" in Genesis in the Bible. Since the Genesis is in the Holy Bible, I do believe in the events that occurred in Genesis because I am a Christian. Since the beginning of the semester, I have learned things that range from human nature, to the similarities between an ancient epic and a story in the Bible.
ReplyDelete1. I believe some parts but not all of them i mean like i dont belive in like the gods coming to help people and all that but i do belive a god can guide you to where you need to be in life.
ReplyDelete2.I have learned alot about the epic story of gilgamesh and the geneis of the flood story.
3.I think we need to review more on the vocab because i understand some words but not all of them.
I do not believe in the Epic of Gilgamesh. In my opinion I think that the events in Genesis are real because they are in a book. The events in Gilgamesh could be rewritten by someone else and made up. I have learned about the Gilgamesh story and also learned many new vocabulary words that can help me when I am writing. I think we need to just practice reading out loud and how to answer questions in readings
ReplyDeleteI think that the story of Genesis is more realistic than the story of Gilgamesh. To my belief I agree more with the story of Genesis. Since the beginning of this semester I have learned many things that are related to what we did in AVID. I actually now remember what an epic was because it has been a long time since we did any "stories" or "epics." I think that we can review on anything that has to do with English II.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the Epic of Gilgamesh was something that someone dreamed about then wrote it down. I believe the events that are in Genesis. We mostly need to review the part of the story where Gilgamesh fights Humbaba. That part was a little confusing.
ReplyDeleteI kind of do believe the epic of Gilgamesh but then again i kind of don't believe it.
ReplyDeleteYes i do believe in the events that took place in Genesis.
I have learned about Gilgamesh and I have learned about Genesis. I also have learned about subject verb agreement.
We need to review in a lot of little things that we would learn in English 1 because somethings I have forgot about.
Yes I believe both stories, although I believe the Genesis one more because I believe in the Bible. Since the beggining of the semester I have learned about the Gilgamesh story, alot of new vocab, and some more things. I don't really think we need to review yet because I think were doing fine so far.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if what we have been reading is true but it's pretty cool that different people wrote about a very similar story. This makes it sound like it's very true since there's more than one source. However if this is true then how come there isn't any actual proof that either God or any of the gods don't appear in modern times. Why is it that if they had so much power that there hasn't been any sign of them? I have learned a whole bunch of new terms like archetype or babel. I also had never heard of Gilgamesh before I took this class and I personally don't like the kind of person that he was but I like that he proved that immortality can be chieved, just not the way he wanted it to though.

DeleteI believe in the events in the genesis. l learned a lot of stuff like i never there was a book alder than the Bible. Before i had this class i did not know the epic of Gilgamesh and that it cas carved in a stone tablet. i think we need to review on the vocab because i was a little bit confused
ReplyDeleteI belive that the stories of genesis realy took place and the events happened like it was writen. I belive the the story of the flood counld have happened, but I do not belive it was a massive flood as it was described. On the other hand I do not belive that there were gods involoved in the flood. I have learned about many new words in this class, but I do not belive we need to review anything.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the events in the epic of gilgamesh actually happened. i have also learned alot this new semester so far. The Epic of Gilgamesh was an interesting story to me because mythological storys appeal to me more than any other. there isnt much that i think that i need to review because i pretty much have a good under standing of the stories we have read.
ReplyDelete1.) I think, from my Christian point of view, that the Gilgamesh flood is actually the Genesis flood. It is just told differently than Genesis. This is really interesting due to the fact that it shows that the flood was likely to be true.
ReplyDelete2.) I've learned about the Gilgamesh flood, which I hadn't known about previously. Of course, I don't believe in their version.
3.) I don't really need any review, but I'll do whatever anyone else suggests.

I believe the Epic of Gilgamesh really took place, and I also believe in the events in Genesis. I have learned various aspects about the different types of epics there are. I also learned about the Epic of Gilgamesh, and what it was about. We need to review the story of Genesis a little bit more. I didn't understand it as much.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the things that took place in Genesis. I had to read some things over again to understand the events that I was reading. I somewhat believe the events that happened in the epic of Gilgamesh. The actions that took place in both of the stories were very interesting. I do believe that the events that took place actually happened because I"m a christian.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe The Epic of Gilgamesh really took place but I do believe that The Bible did. Since the beginning of this semester, I have not learned much besides what I've learned about Gilgamesh. I've learned he is an arrogant king who seeks immortality. He never gains immortality but dies because he is a mortal. I honestly do not find Gilgamesh interesting because it is very confusing and doesn't include much details. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, it does not include how Enkidu and Gilgamesh become friends or more important things.
ReplyDeleteI believe in the events in Genesis. I have learned lots of new stuff this semester. I learned what the Epic of Gilgamesh was. Before this class, I had no idea what it was. I think I need to review the part where Gilgamesh fights Humbaba because I did not fully understand that part in the story.
ReplyDelete1. I believe that the events in Gilgamesh really did take place. i also believe in the events of Genesis. Gilgamesh was written before the bible, but maybe Genesis is just a different version of what happened. there is really no way to know for sure.
ReplyDelete2. Since the beginning of the semester i have learned that writing has been around for many years and that there can be stories that collaborate another story.
3. I think that we need to review the book of Genesis because we didn't really go over it as much as we did the Gilgamesh

I don't believe that either of them actually happened. I have learned about the epic of Gilgamesh. I had heard about it in some of my classes in middle school, but i never had the chance to read it until a few days ago. I also learned about the similarities of the story of Noah's ark and The flood in the epic of Gilgamesh. I just need to review the beginning of Gilgamesh.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do belive that events in Gilgamesh and in Genesis took place because the story is told in so many different religions and epics just from different points of view. Since the beginning of the semester, I have learned that the word Hubris means full of arrogance. For me, I believe we should review more on the context of what we are reading because some of the stories, I have no idea what is going on. Although I do like reading about these types of things, I do not understand whsat is going on in them so they are kind of confusing. I find it pretty crazy how these events are toldin so many different cultures which proves to me that they are really true.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Gilgamesh and Genesis both did not take place before. We have absolutely no way of knowing for sure, but I believe they were fables created to present morals for those who read them. I believe something alike this may have happened before, but I don't find every detail to be set in stone.
ReplyDeleteI have learned the beauty of writing. I used to think that writing was just a time killer or an emotional boulder, but now, I can see much more beyond the words than I once could.
I believe we need to take some articles and break them down. There are some stories that can actually say something, but to the reader, it's all mumbo jumbo. Even if we have to break it down word by word, I like to know that everyone understands.
I did not understand the epic of Gilgamesh the first time I read it but, then once I read it again I started to understand it and I do think that the epic of Gilgamesh actually took place.Yes I do believe in the events in Genesis. I learned about Gilgamesh and how it relates to other things like Genesis. I think we need to review things about Gilgamesh because some parts of the story I still do not get.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the chance to read the story but to hear people talk i don't think i believe in the story of Gilgamesh. I am a christian so genesis makes more since and sounds a little more realer. something new i have learned was about Gilgamesh yesterday that was new.It would be nice to review this whole thing but i just moved hear so things are going to be more confusing
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that the epic of Gilgamesh took place. I see the epic more as a story or a wise tale than an actual real story. I believe that the story of the in Genesis is real. The reason I believe Genesis is real is because of my religion.
ReplyDeleteSince the beginning of the semester I have learned a lot. I have learned about Gilgamesh and his epic. I also learned about how it relates to the story in the Bible. I also learned about many different words that we are going to use in English II, some I had heard some not.
I think that we got the stuff down. I can't really think of anything to go over again.
I don't believe the events of the Epic of Gilgamesh happened. I believe the concept of the events of the Epic of Gilgamesh happened, I don't necessarily believe the actual story happened or is possible to happen for that matter. However, I do believe in the events in Genesis. This is because it was written in the Bible and throughout history the Bible has never been wrong or doubted.I learned that there was another version of the Flood other than the one in the Bible. We need to review the fights that happened in Humamba, that portion of the story left me slightly confused.
ReplyDeleteI think that the events in Gilgamesh may have been drastically exaggerated but may have happened. Being a christian I do believe in the events of genesis. I think that these stories may be the same exact events just told from two different cultures and point of views.I have realized that people haven't changed. And i learned the similarities and differences between genesis and Gilgamesh. We should review the Epic of Gilgamesh again because it was a bit hard to understand.
ReplyDeleteI believe in the events in the genesis. l learned a lot of stuff like i never there was a book alder than the Bible. Before i had this class i did not know the epic of Gilgamesh and that it cas carved in a stone tablet. i think we need to review on the vocab because i was a little bit confused
ReplyDeleteI never thought much about this. I do believe the event happened but it was different. I think that someone did go through a devistating flood but never had godly interference. I have learned of the story of gilgemesh. I think we need to review more into the story.
