ReplyDeleteI chose an article from the Chicago Tribune that discusses a debate over non-profit organizations in their area. The city of Chicago used to provide water to non-profit organizations without charge. Many citizens did not find this fair and questioned the privilege. Chicago is now requiring non-profits to pay a reduced bill for water in their facilities.

ReplyDeleteI chose an article from the NY Times about the Manti Te'o hoax. This discusses the debate on if he made up his girlfriend or if some people tricked him. No one knows for sure if he made it up but there is plenty of evidence leading towards the thought that he did make it up. I personally don't know what to believe. I do hope the truth comes out soon.

ReplyDeleteI chose an article from the NY times regarding the current debate over gun control. President Barrack Obama is intending to give the Center for Disease Control 10 million dollars to fund research on gun control by labeling it as a public health issue. This directly opposes the National Rifle Association's worldview for they are claiming that this is a way of disguising political views and medical science.
I am going to be doing my reflection on an article from NY Times about Support for Gay Marriage. The article discusses the different percents that people voted for and against gay marriage. It shows that many Whites and Hispanics are now for gay marriage. It always talks about how many blacks are now turning against gay marriage. The article discusses the different polls that are being taken around the world.

ReplyDeleteI chose this article from New York Times that discusses 'Women in the Battlefield'. I chose this because i think that women should be able to fight for us. I don't think that they should discriminate, if a woman can do combat jobs as well as, or better than men, then they should be able too. A woman can do just as much as what a man can do, sometimes even better than a man. I think that anyone should be able to join any kind of combat.

ReplyDeleteThe Pentagon's decision to finally bring women into combat is amazing. They will have the chance to prove that they can do combat jobs just as good as men, if not better. When it was released Wednesday that women will be fighting in combat there were more than a few negative comments. Women will finally have the chance to show their talents and skills and prove the people that doubted them wrong.

ReplyDeleteAmerica is getting further and further from the death penalty. People who have murdered several people will most likely not be put on death row and live in prison for the rest of their lives. Even if someone is put on death row they will not be put to death for many many years. If someone can go to a pblic place and kill innocent people with the punishment of living somewhere and get three square meals a day for free more people would do it. I believe that we should still use death row because I believe in a very old saying, An eye for an eye.

ReplyDeleteStatistics state that over 117,000 people have overdosed and were hurried to an emergency room in 2010. This number keeps rising, and there are very little ways to reduce this number. Every solution could possibly cut off patients who are using the drugs sufficiently. Now, they are naming drugs, alike Vicodin and Hydrocodone, Schedule II drugs. "Schedule II" is a category for narcotics that can be easily abused and most harmful, alike Oxycontin and Fentanyl. These prescriptions will not be written out as often, and maybe even barely at all, depending on the complication with the patient. The Food and Drug Administration are currently reviewing many ideas that can reduce the amount of overdoses in America.

ReplyDeleteI have chosen to do my editorial on rape victims because rape is a very serious thing. Rape can scar a person for life leaving emotional, and physical scars. It damages psychological health and can cause a person to shut themselves down from people due to fear. It can sometimes take years to get over. Also when you rape someone you can take the virginity to a girl that is a precious thing because you can only lose it once.When you lose your virginity you want it to be that special person that takes.

ReplyDeletei chose an article from New York Times about paying doctors for performance. Instead of granting automatic pay increase, it will pay them based on how well they reduce costs, increase patient satisfaction and improve the quality of care. The systems leaders are going to try and make sure everyone works together to achieve in the same goal.

This discusses on whether more laws on guns should be given or not. I think that gun control will not make anything better or safer. I think that the school should be more secure and not just try to focus on guns, because many things can happen not just shootings. I believe that instead of stricter gun proposels the school should be more secure.

ReplyDeleteI chose an article from the Washington Post about 18 Afghan police officers were killed in two attacks. The first attack was a suicide bomber trageted a group of police officers, and the second attack happened at a roadside bomb which killed 8 police officers. I chose this article because why do they cause so much violence? Why or how do they convince the suicide bombers to do these act? So far one of the bomber survive the blast and six more officers were wounded from the roadside bomb.

ReplyDeleteI have chosen this article. An Idaho dairy farm has been abusing cows and treating them badly. They sell and kill the cows for money. They have cows tied up around the neck with a rope on a tractor trailer. They are to linked fast-foods like Burger King, Mc Donalds, and etc... These cows need to treated with care and respect.
